This waiata/song talks about the colonial theft of land and culture, and as an Indigenous teacher I love to centre indigenous musicians. This song in particular allows you to dance with awareness of the truth.
The lyrics say - 'somebody stole our land, and everyone knows who did it'. I loop it there for a while. Because we all know who did it, and that is a good pathway into acknowledgement, decolonisation, re- indigenisation, and good relationship.
